Biblical Truths of This Lesson in Focus
• Jesus’ response to Mary’s concern reminds us that the Lord never ignores the needs that we bring to Him in
prayer, even when He chooses not to act immediately upon them or in the manner we desire.
• When the Lord responds to our concerns by doing something that we may consider to be miraculous, we do well to
discern what He’s showing us about Himself.
• In our quiet times with our heavenly Father, we spend the time wisely when we thank Him for revealing Himself
through His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
• We should strive to keep in mind that Christ reveals His glory to us so our faith in Him will grow stronger.
Word Study: Glory (2:11)
When John wrote about glory, he used the Greek word, “doxa.” The word as John used it carried the Old Testament
idea of God’s awe-inspiring presence and power exhibited so that everyone could see the evidence of it.
Accordingly, a visible display of God’s presence and power would render honor to Him. When Jesus came, He showed
that He was God’s Son. Jesus’ disciples saw God’s presence and power in His life. In other words, they witnessed
the unique display of His glory.
